先日、私が通っていたフィジーのセカンダリースクール、スバ・グラマー・スクール（SGS）で、元生徒（卒業生）を対象とした楽しい同窓会が1週間にわたって開催されました。

一週間のお祝いのタイトルは、「SGS 60 + 4 Diamonds Are Still Forever Anniversary」。

この1週間、各日が特定の年代の卒業生たちによってホストされた。各日のイベントは、言うまでもなく様々で、朝から始まり、夜に終わりました。私の年代である80年代は、出席した元生徒全員に朝食を提供し、学校近くの海岸沿いでマングローブの植林プロジェクトを指揮し、夜は 「80年代のロックンロール 」をテーマにしたパーティーを開催しました。

懐かしい顔ぶれがテーマに沿ったイベントに参加し、楽しんでいるのを見るのは素晴らしいことでした。元生徒たちは、このダイヤモンド（＋4）ジュビリーに参加するために、遠くアメリカやヨーロッパから駆けつけてくれました。

私はもちろん、ライブストリーミング(オンライン)でしか参加できませんでした。メロディアスで感傷的な母校の校歌に思いを馳せ、「Seek And Ye Shall Find 」という校訓を思い出すのは素晴らしいことでした。

一週間にわたる祝賀会は、「SGS 60 + 4 Diamonds Are Still Forever」記念舞踏会でクライマックスを迎え、何百人もの元生徒たちが一つ屋根の下に集まり、様々なパフォーマンスやたくさんの懐かしい瞬間とともに、忘れられないフィナーレを楽しみました。

今回は参加できませんでした、次回のプラチナジュビリーには必ず参加したいです。

Recently, the secondary school I attended in Fiji, Suva Grammar School (SGS), had a fun-filled week-long reunion for former students (alumni).

The week-long celebration was entitled “SGS 60 + 4 Diamonds Are Still Forever Anniversary.”

During the week, each day was hosted by the alumni from a certain decade. The events for each day, needless to mention, varied and began in the morning, and ended at night. My decade, the 80s, hosted breakfast for all former students present, led a mangrove planting project along the coast near the school, and had a party in the evening, with the theme “80s Rock & Roll.”

It was great to see old familiar faces enjoying themselves and participating in themed events. Former students flew in from as far as the US and Europe to participate in this diamond (+4) jubilee.

I, of course, could participate only through live streaming. It was wonderful to be reminisced with our melodious as well as sentimental Alma Mater and to be reminded of the school motto “Seek And Ye Shall Find.”

The week-long celebration culminated with the “SGS 60 + 4 Diamonds Are Still Forever” anniversary ball that saw hundreds of former students gather under one roof to enjoy an unforgettable finale with various performances and so many nostalgic moments.

I missed out this around, but I shall definitely attend the next ~ the Platinum Jubilee.
