父の日の起源は20世紀初頭にさかのぼることができます。
母の日の成功に触発され、1909年にソノラ・スマート・ドッドが初めて提唱しました。
しかし、最初の父の日は1910年6月19日にワシントン州スポケーンで祝われました。
時が経つにつれ、このアイデアは人気を博し、1972年にリチャード・ニクソン大統領がこの日を恒久的な祝日としました。

父の日は世界中の多くの国で祝われていますが、日付が異なることもあります。例えば、スペインやイタリアでは3月19日に、タイでは12月5日に祝われます。
いつ、どこで祝われるにせよ、より大切なことは、この特別な日に限らず、いつもどんな形であれ、私たちみんながお父さんに感謝していること、そしてお父さんが私たちみんなにとって本当に大切な存在であることを示すことだと思います。

The origins of Father’s Day can be traced back to the early 20th century. It was inspired by the success of Mother’s Day and was first proposed by Sonora Smart Dodd in 1909. However, the first Father’s Day was celebrated in Spokane, Washington, on June 19, 1910. Over time, the idea gained popularity, and only in 1972 that President Richard Nixon made it a permanent national holiday in the United States.

Father’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world, although sometimes on different dates. For example, in Spain and Italy, it is celebrated on March 19, and in Thailand, it is celebrated on December 5. No matter when or where it is celebrated, I believe what is more important is to show our dads how grateful we all are to them and what they really mean to all of us in whatever ways we can , not only on this special occasion but always.

My dad is a loving, thoughtful and hardworking father. He has always been more patient to us his children while mom has always been the stricter one. I learned how to cook from my dad too. He taught me how to cook when we were living together here in Japan . Hope you all had a meaningful Father’s Day!
