数週間前、第13回太平洋芸術文化祭（FestPAC）がハワイで開催されました。このフェスティバルは、先住民族である太平洋諸島民の世界最大の祭典です。

このフェスティバルは、FestPACのような継続的な文化交流を通じて、伝統的な慣習の浸食を食い止めることを目的に1972年に始まりました。
開始以来、この豊かでダイナミックなフェストパック・イベントは、さまざまな太平洋島嶼国が持ち回りで主催しています。

このイベントは活気に満ち、文化的に豊かなものです。
太平洋地域のユニークな伝統、芸術性、多様な文化を祝うものです。
このイベントは、太平洋島嶼国にとって、その豊かな伝統と芸術的才能を披露する場として、非常に密接に受け入れられている重要なイベントです。

11日間にわたるこのイベントには、ポリネシア、ミクロネシア、メラネシアというオセアニアの3つの主要部門から、多くの芸術家代表団が参加しました。
約30の太平洋島嶼国・地域を代表する2,000人以上のアーティストや実務家が一堂に会したこのイベントは、本当に素晴らしいものでした。

A couple of weeks ago, there was the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts & Culture (FestPAC) and it convened in Hawai’i. It is the world’s largest celebration of indigenous Pacific Islanders.

The festival began in 1972, with the aim of ceasing the erosion of traditional practices through ongoing cultural exchanges such as FestPAC. Since its inception, this rich and dynamic FestPAC event has been hosted by different Pacific Island nations on a rotational basis.

The event is a vibrant and culturally enriching one. It celebrates the unique traditions, artistry, and diverse cultures of the Pacific region. It is an important event, which is embraced very closely by Pacific Island nations and it serves as a platform for them to showcase their rich heritage and artistic talents.

This time the theme of the event was based on voyaging: “Ho’oulu Lāhui – Regenerating Oceania,”aimed at restoring the spirit of Pacific culture with artists across the Pacific nations.

The delegation from Fiji consisted of two prominent artistic groups, namely Vou Dance Group and Dolce Sounds of Fiji. The former showcased contemporary performing arts of Fiji and the latter showcased traditional indigenous performances.

The 11-day event saw many groups of artistic delegates from the three principal divisions of Oceania – Polynesia, Micronesia, and Melanesia. The event was absolutely stunning and it brought together over 2,000 artists and practitioners representing about 30 Pacific island countries and territories.
